About Dr. Dave
Dr. David P. Alfaro is a Certified Specialist in Prosthodontics, having completed licensing exams for general dentistry and for his prosthodontic specialization.
Dr. Dave was born in Vancouver, then moved to Richmond during childhood, graduating from Matthew McNair Highschool. David is a band geek at heart, so after a year at Simon Fraser University, he decided to pursue an education in music, and studied at Vancouver Community College, Berklee College of Music, and Capilano College.
After his music training, Dr. Alfaro returned to SFU and completed a degree in Kinesiology, and then moved to New York to study dentistry at Columbia University. Dr. Dave chose dentistry as a career, because it allows him to utilize both the artistic and scientific sides of his education.
With a desire to achieve excellence in his profession, Dr. Dave's educational pursuits brought him back to Vancouver, for specialist training in Prosthodontics, and a Masters in Craniofacial sciences at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Alfaro's research on digital dental technology has been published in the Journal of Prosthodontics and introduced a novel approach to the measurement of the fit of dental crowns.
Upon the completion of his Prosthodontic training, Dr. Dave worked at a speciality dental clinic in Vancouver and taught at his alma mater, UBC. He is now spending the majority of his time in his private practice, and lecutures on occasion.
Outside of dentisty, Dr. Dave is still a music geek, although it is limited to karaoke nights and the occasional workshop.
